Image
Here's the Why, How, and What....  Why?   Because if you were to think of the ideal sportsbook for bettors, it would have to be one that isn't in the business of profiting from managing its own book. How can a sportsbook REALLY give the best betting experience if the ultimate goal is to take as much money from you while paying out the least? That free bet isn't really free.  How? By building a betting platform that can only make money by providing the most value to you, the bettor.  What? Sportto, a new betting platform for the Ontario market. Sportto partners with entities that are really good at managing their own books. They compete to provide the best odds on the platform, so Sportto can focus on excellent customer service and features like this: Automated Betting: Tell Sportto to automatically place or cash out of your bet if the odds move to your liking or not.  Integrated Bet Management Tools:  Think about having betting calculators and strategies,...

5 Reasons You Suck At Sports Betting (And A Way To Bet Better)

Image
Having "VIP" status with a sportsbook is not a good thing...it likely means you suck more than most.  Sports betting can be fun, but honestly, most of us are not good at it. We may remember that parlay we nailed or the surprising underdog, but those instances are rare. While some excel more than others, here are five reasons we still suck and a solution.  1. To put it bluntly, we're dumb.  Many of us need to be well-informed to feel confident about a bet. In a survey conducted last year with 450 respondents, h aving the knowledge to make an informed bet was the biggest hurdle for Ontarians to begin betting on sports.  But what are we to do? Most of us lack time to research teams and players, analyze statistics, and find the best betting odds. As a result, we may rely on our gut, the "eye" test, or popular opinion and bet with sites that we hear the most about, which often leads to poorer betting decisions.   2. Some of us, especially the newbies, simpl...

Image
"It is a sportsbook operator that isn’t actually a sportsbook!" If you take away the core aspect of managing the actual sportsbook as the main revenue driver, the only way an operator can earn money is by cre...

I Wish I Can More Effectively Bet On The Odds Changing Throughout A Game.

Image
"I didn’t want to waste time devising an effective hedging strategy. The brilliance of this feature is that it streamlined my decision-making into a single bet." Two key factors impacting the winnings received from a successful bet are the wager amount and the odds provided. Previously, we explored the typical wager amounts recommended based on a survey of Ontarians on this topic. In this post,  we will analyze the betting odds of an actual game to observe how they change throughout the match and discuss how this important aspect can be a valuable asset to the bettor.  Over the weekend, we saw the matchups for this year’s NFC and AFC championship games determined. In the NFC, the Washington Commanders will visit the Philadelphia Eagles, while in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills will take on the Chiefs in Kansas City. Although Saturday's games were entertaining and had their moments, Sunday’s games were competitive right down to the wire, with the visiting teams having opportuni...
